Christians Ignore Primary Prophetic Fulfillment As The Tribulation Looms
There were so many major fulfillments of Bible Prophecies last month that I felt compelled to write a letter to describe them. Because I'm also overdue to produce an issue of our Internet newsletter, I wanted to send this out to our friends and supporters as soon as possible - and include a description of the amazing events that so many have failed to recognize are prophetic fulfillments.
The simple fact is, the astonishing pace of the most recent prophetic fulfillments make it very clear that the beginning of the Tribulation, and the judgment of America, is at hand.
Those of you who have been with us for some time know that over the last 11 years, I have issued many prophecies and predictions, and in the last month, several of them have been strikingly fulfilled. For those that are unfamiliar with these predictions, I'm going to tell you about them in this letter.
Jerusalem To Be The World Capital
A few short weeks ago, the former Prime Minister of Israel, Shimon Peres, shocked the entire world when he proposed that Jerusalem be selected as the "World Capital" of the emerging one world government. The Peres press release stated that the competing claims on the various holy sites in Jerusalem that are desired by Islamic, Christian, and Jewish interests could be satisfied if a larger governing body were to assume jurisdiction of the city.
Although the proposal is calculated to resolve the seething religious tension in Israel, there was no mistaking the central idea that is implied in the proposed internationalization of Jerusalem. For example, the prestigious news bureau World Net Daily reacted to the proposal by publishing the following headline: Jerusalem Touted As World's Capital.
As it that wasn't enough, the Israeli newspaper Maariv stated that as part of Shimon Peres' proposal for the internationalization of Jerusalem, the United Nations would be the political body that is to be placed in charge. Incredibly, Peres wants the Secretary-General of the United Nations to act as the "Mayor" of Jerusalem.
It should be obvious that in any city in the world, the Mayor of that city lives there - thus, this political proposal is subtly suggesting that the Secretary-General of the United Nations should move to Jerusalem. This would make the ancient metropolis the de facto world headquarters of the UN.
Back in 1992, in my book Beyond Babylon, I issued the following prophecy:
"...the combined nations of the world will be forced to determine another location for the world headquarters of the UN; and once again, history has already been pre-written, for the executive offices of the 'President Of The World' are destined to be moved to Jerusalem during the last week of the world." (page 109)
"The world headquarters of the United Nations will be moved to Jerusalem." (page 112).
"It's not difficult to believe that the combined nations of the world, bound together through the global government of The United Nations, represents an awesome political protector; couple that with the international religious fervor of Israel, and you have the new capital of Planet Earth: Jerusalem." (page 113)
In addition to predicting that the UN will be relocated to Jerusalem, I have specifically predicted that Shimon Peres will be the Israeli statesman that will be responsible for internationalizing the city. Writing in The Apocalypse Chronicles in May 1996, I wrote that Shimon Peres "is the man to divide Jerusalem." In fact, four years later, even as many critics were attacking this ministry and scoffing at my predictions, I wrote "I still say we'll see Peres return in time to divide Jerusalem" (Christian Media, Vol VII #1, 2000). Now, on July 21st, 2003, Shimon Peres, the leader of the Labor Party of Israel, publicly stated that this is the course of action he will pursue.
The False Prophet Pushes For Peace
While the political offices of the Beast government are being urged to relocate to Jerusalem, the Pope and the Vatican are now encouraging the world at large to embrace the United Nations as the only viable vehicle to world peace.
In a recent Reuters News release, the headline read Pope Wants New International Laws To Stop War. The way the Pope proposes to bring an end to war is to empower a world government, and then pass laws making war illegal. The Pope's press conference brazenly states that "international law" is the only way to bring about peace and safety for all. Where and how would these laws be constructed? The Vatican proposal flatly states this should be accomplished within "the workings of the United Nations."
In fact, the Vatican is now making a massive global push for the citizens of the world to follow and obey the global dictates of the UN. As soon as the Pope's call for a new international order prohibiting war was published, two other Vatican figures began a press blitz supporting the Papal initiative.
Archbishop Renato Martino hit the media trail with an important interview where he stated that the UN has an "irreplaceable role" in the pursuit of world peace. He stated that when it comes to institutions that could conceivably bring about world government, the UN was "the only one."
Meanwhile, Cardinal Angelo Sodano has written to Kofi Annan, the 7th Secretary-General of the United Nations, and assured him that Pope John Paul II is planning on giving his full endorsement of the UN globalist agenda at the forthcoming World Peace Day event. Indeed, the theme of the next World Peace Day, which occurs on January 1st 2004, is titled International Law: A Path To Peace.
The False Prophet Causes The World To Obey The Beast
Revelation tells us the two Beasts in the end times are political and religious respectively. The first "Beast," which rises up out of the sea, represents the world government in the last days. The second Beast, which rises up out of the earth, represents world religion. Indeed, the fact that the second Beast "had two horns like a lamb" (Revelation 13:11) provides a spiritual imagery that plainly points us to a global religious power.
The first "Beast" had seven heads, which is said to represent "seven kings." Because Revelation tells us these seven kings are consecutive (see Revelation 17:10), we're looking for a global political organization that has had a total of seven leaders. The United Nations, of course, is now on its seventh leader - the present Secretary-General Kofi Annan being the seventh "head" of the UN.
Because we've covered this subject many times on our underground Shortwave radio broadcasts, many of our radio listeners already know that the word "worship" in Revelation equates to demonstrating obedience. For example, JESUS CHRIST said "If ye love me, keep my commandments" (John 14:15). Essentially, He was saying that your obedience to His precepts provides the evidence that you truly love and worship Him.
In Revelation, we learn that the second Beast, who is identified in Revelation 19:20 as the False Prophet, is the one that convinces the world to obey the first Beast - the world government of the United Nations.
"And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed" (Revelation 13:12).
To put it bluntly, the role of the False Prophet is to use his religious authority to convince the people they should obey the government. Actually, this has been the role of organized religion all the way back to the very beginning. Corporate, organized religion has always come to an accommodation with the political kingdoms of each era, and they become symbiotic. The religious power, wielding the authority of "god," teaches the people to obey the government - while the government, in turn, grants the religionists special standing in the social order. In Latin, this is called quid pro quo - with the English equivalent being expressed in the slang saying 'you scratch my back, and I'll scratch yours.'
This was the case in ancient Egypt when the only group that was not taxed by Pharaoh was the priesthood (Genesis 47:26) because they supported Pharaoh's claim that he was descended from the "gods." It was also true in old Israel when the popularity of Jesus threatened the Pharisees' standing with the Roman government to such a degree that they said: "If we let him thus alone, all men will believe on him: and the Romans shall come and take away both our place and nation" (John 11:48). The truth is, you can find this relationship between organized religion and the prevailing government in every major kingdom mentioned in the Bible.
Thus, when the Pope issues a global policy directive calling for international law to be empowered in the emerging world government of the United Nations, he is telling all who submit to his authority to obey the Beast. And that is precisely what happened last month.
The Next UN Secretary-General Is The 8th
Our readers have known for years that the Bible predicts the 8th "head" of the Beast will be the ANTICHRIST. When the text tells us the Beast has 7 consecutive leaders (heads), it also tells us that "even he is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goeth into perdition" (Revelation 17:11). I believe this verse is telling us the next leader of the UN is one of the previous leaders - or as Revelation puts it, he is "of the seven."
For over 11 years we have stated that Dr. Boutros Boutros-Ghali, the 6th Secretary-General of the UN, will fulfill the role of the Antichrist. In an interview recently broadcast on the Christian Media Network, Dr. Boutros-Ghali stated that in order for the UN to fulfill its role of world government, the organization "needs radical change." He said the UN "needs the consensus of the international community" and when asked if the support of organized religion could be the agency that would bring people to a consensus in support of world government, he replied "Why not?"
In that interview, Dr. Ghali recognized that the forthcoming radical changes that will energize and give life to the UN as a full-blown world government will be a new "consensus" that "will be able to obtain the participation of the civil society." He predicted a new spirit of cooperation will bring about "a drastic transformation of the United Nations."
Almost all of Christendom rejects these things, "because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand" (Matthew 13:13), but "ye brethren are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief" (I Thessalonians 5:4). "According as He hath chosen us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love" (Ephesians 1:4). Even so come quickly LORD Jesus.
